Glycolic Acid Peels

Glycolic Acid Peels

It is a mild to medium peel, derived from sugarcane. It is useful for the treatment of various conditions like acne (pimples), melasma, hypermelanosis, skin rejuvenation and other conditions that cause hyperpigmentation of the face. At Mary Queens Hospital, we use Neostrata Professional products for our chemical peels.

Salicyclic Acid Peels

Salicyclic Acid Peels

Salicyclic acid is a beta-hydroxy acid. It is derived from willow bark, wintergreen leaves and sweet birch. Salicyclic acid is an excellent keratolytic agent removing dead cells and express oil. It is thought to function through solubilization of intercellular cement thereby reducing cell adhesion. Because of its lipophilic nature, salicylic acid has a strong comedolytic effect. Salicylic acid also exhibits antti-inflammatory capabilities reducing the big red acne lesions. Uses include acne vulgaris, enlarged pores, rough and oily skin, melasma, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and photoageing.
